Unique flavors, colors and aromas: Spanish wines. In Tenerife, the largest of the seven Canary Islands, wine holds up to this promise. Internationally recognized, this area is home to two of Tenerife’s five destinations of origin: Icoden Daute Isora and Abona. You can discover all five by following the ‘wine routes’, which offer visitors the chance to uncover the history of the many iconic towns. Touring organic estates such as the Alama de Trevejo will allow you to deeper explore Tenerife’s wine culture.
Maybe you’re a cycling pro, or maybe you’re itching to try it for the first time. Either way, Tenerife is calling your name. The largest of the Canary Islands is filled with affordable, delicious Canarian food and plenty of scenic riding routes – which makes it a must-add to your cycling bucket list.
As I stood near the peak of Mount Teide, Tenerife’s remarkable volcano, I suddenly found myself in awe. As I glanced over my left shoulder, the sunset of blue sky was transforming into a streak of pink, purple, and then green. On my right, the sun was melting into the sky. The clouds above me began to rapidly disappear, and the sun that once hurt my eyes, surprisingly no longer hurt.
If you’re thinking of studying abroad in Spain, Tenerife is the perfect option as a stand-alone or side destination. La Laguna is one of the two UNESCO World Heritage sites on the island and home to one of the oldest and most well renowned universities in Spain.
